Its a Dana 35 with 3.73 gearing. I could remove the rear cover and look but without going to all that problem and loosing half my oil and then having to replace it. I will have to do this when I put in my Lockrite. I have jacked up one wheel and shook the wheel and feel a slight thub. I have come to the conclusion its a c-clip but would like to be more sure..as don't want to have to buy both..Any help?

go to 4wd.com and look it up for parts, it will show you if there is a c-clip, I just looked and YES it does.

Pretty much any differential ever built has a c-clip.
