I understand the fact that it was cut in opposite directions. And I wasn't sure about that. Thanks for verifying that, all those who answered. BUT I find it unique that they are 6 yard bands. If you look at the field there is one band that is exactly the width of the Goalie Box. two more and your on the 18 yard line of the Penalty Box. Does this help the sideline refs watch for offsides? Or is it just for making the field look nice?

It depends on the intention. Some fields have two different green colors just to make the field more appealing; but others have two different colors to help in offside situations, when the color changes every fixed distance.

I always wondered about that. I think it's to give spectators and commentators a impression of distance. If you know one color green is ten meters, then when a player runs through six stripes, you know he traveled 60 meters.

Also, did you know fields vary in dimensions? Some are longer and thinner, while some are shorter and broader.

They are mowed in diffrent directions.. therefore it gives the apperance...
