Do you mean you haven't nursed him up to now and you want to start? Or you've been nursing and having problems that you need to solve? Without more details, I can't make a specific suggestion, but one thing that *will* help is to call a local La Leche League Leader (see sources section below). She will be able to answer all your questions (or, if she can't, she'll be able to find out the answer and call you back). Her help is free.

It isn't too late. The thing that will help you the most is frequently feeding and allowing baby to suckle at the breast. There are also herbal supplements that are safe and effective. You can get Fenugreek at GNC or any store that sells herbal supplements or their is an herbal tea called mother's milk. You will still have to give baby a bottle for now so that he is getting food but the more you can get him to suckle on the breast the more stimulation you get and the more milk you will produce. Visit with a La Leche consultant in your area and if you are not sure if there is one go to http://www.lalecheleague.org/

It's definately not too late you can start nursing up to 6 months after having a baby. You just have to start a little at a time and you will start to produce milk. Just let the baby nurse for as long and much as he wants to. It might take a while to get him used to a new nipple though, B/C he is used to a rubber nipple. Its different for a real nipple, the baby gets lazy using a rubber nipple. Nursing off of a real nipple takes more muscles. It's great you want to nurse your baby! I'm a nursing mama too. It really is so much better for them. They absorb much more of the vitamins and stuff from breastmilk than they do on formula. I'm not going to lie, switching to breast after 3 months will take some time and lots of patients, it probably won't be easy, but if you really want to do it, it is possible.

You more than likely dried up a long time ago, as most new Mom's dry up around 4 - 6 weeks after birth. You're going to have to stick to bottle feeding.

It's not too late. If moms of adopted children can breast feed them (do a search, there are many many testimonials about it) you will be able to also. It's great that you're going to do this, better late than never for your baby. Please contact La Leche ASAP.

if you never breast fed hiim while he was younger, you can ask your doc, they do have a pill to help enduce lactation. Be prepared for a challenge though, to try and start lactation after this long of time, can be tough, talk to your doc.

consult a lactation consultant who will tell you if it is too late, and will help you by starting pumping with a good breast pump. you definitely need to find a local lactation consultant. it might be too late though.
