Let a hole have volume V.
1 man digs at the rateof V/24 (units of volume per hour)
2 men dig at the rate of V/12.
Time taken to dig a hole of volume V/2 is given by:
T = Total Volume/Rate
T = (V/2)/(V/12)
T = 6 hours.
