How come Champ Cars race only once every two weeks, while F1 and other leagues race every week?

There are five back-to-back (one week apart) races on the Formula One schedule this year, but the rest are two and three weeks apart.
While the F1 season is 18 races, Champ Car is only 15, so it's necessary to space the races further apart.
