If its a pc your having program and memory issues..My computer was shutting down and I had to fragment my hardrive ..and clear all the stuff off the harddrive that I wasnt using...Bascially when your harddrive is near capacity problems start happening..pictures hold alot of memory..Hardrives fail at 80% capacity so thats when you have to back up all your stuff to cd or you will lose everything...Look at your control panel and check the statis....

ok.. a thought.. if it is not memory problems... does it go a specific amount of time downloading before it shuts down? the reason I ask.. is ... what are your Screensaver and Powersaver settings like now?.. do you have them set to shut down your computer after 30 minutes of inactivity? (or however long your computer takes before it shuts down)
