Punk is a style of Rock and Roll. Punk originators were bands like the Ramones and the Sex Pistols in the mid 1970's, although some Rock historians trace the style back to The Doors and The Velvet Underground of the late 1960's.

Punk is a totally different genre, in which the singers are singing usually about the lack of moral stamina in society and things bashing the government and so on. Rock is just, well, rock. It has guitars drums and is exhillarating and loud, Punk is rock you see?

Punk is the illegitimate child of Rock. Rock tends to carry a more smooth melody line whereas punk tends to break the rules and is more primitive with its presentation and melodic randomness. Check out both. There is alot out there.

Emo is the more emotional form of punk just for info.

Rock is when there is already an established band and then they get into drugs, punk is when they form a band to support their drug habits. Yup, pretty sure.
