I do nail tech at college in with my beauty course, but if you just want a to be a nail technician you first need a manicure and pedicure qulification this will most proberly be a [art time evening course for 6 months to a year and u would then progress on to the nail tech course for a further year.

Call the Board of Cosmetology in your state. Or look in the phone book under tech. schools. Most nail tech. courses are 12 weeks for full time and 16 weeks for part time. On average the tuition is about 3.500 to 4,000 give or take. It seems like alot but you may qualify for financial aid (such as a pell grant) or a student loan( most do not make start paying on them until six months after you graduate- so you can get a clientele and be well established). Call them to set up a no obligation appointment. They will lay out all your options and will be happy to answer all of your questions. BEST OF LUCK!!!

Check out vocational technical centers, they're cheaper and people can learn to do hair, nails and other trades. Since the price you gave is in pounds, I'm not sure if they have anything like that in the UK though.....

Community colleges in your area are usually low cost, & you'll need a certificate or state license anyway. Speak with a school registrar; who can direct you & review your financial options! don't give up! don't cave in! Just do it!

Call your local government offices, look for Board of Cosmetology or Board of Barber or Health. They would be able to help you further.
