It's generally because they don't have the courage to just say "no"...or because they don't have the courage and/or tolerance to "stick with their guns" after having said "no."
If they don't have the courage to say "no" it could mean that they're afraid of what you're reaction might be.
For Instance:
They may not want to hurt your feelings (so they agree with you), but may not follow thru with what they agreed with.
There are cases when some people express extreme anger if you say no to them, because they want to have their way.
Some people make you feel guilty of treating them wrong if you say no to them, because they want to be in control.
Sometimes, those who do say "no" (when they're repeatedly pushed), will give in just so the one who's pestering will shut up & leave them alone, so they can have peace.
What it boils down to is>>> IF a person has courage & determination to say no... also... how much courage & determination a person has about saying no.

Because they know yes is the answer the asker is looking for, and rather than hurt the person's feelings or subject themselves to long persuasive dialogue trying to convince them to change their no to yes, theyjust say yes and hope they can avoid the person until it does not matter anymore.

Because most people want to please other people, but a lot of times the person will ask, "will you do me a favor?" The person they ask often says, "yes," and then it's not something they want to do.

People don't do this in all cases. Just when you ask them if you are cute.

It is mostly because they're trying not to hurt the other person, I guess... Or they don't want to look like "chicken".

I'm not sure but i guess some do it because they're too soft natured and don't know how or when to say 'No'. x
