The only thing that the bar-code can tell them is if they carry that item or not. My suggestion is to get a phone book and start calling the places you think might carry the mp3 player. Ask them if they have the item and read them off any special numbers. This way you're not wasting a bunch of gas and footwork.

Some stores don't care. One time I bought six bags of Dorritos at Acme for a grad party, but we only used 3 and I'm not much of a snacker so I returned em at Shop Rite and they said they'll take it since they sell that stuff anyway and I got a full refund. If all else fails, look her up in the phone book. I hope you know her last name.

If they sell the same MP3 Player, there will be no difference in barcode. Barcodes are applied by the manufacturer.

I suggest you go into Circuit City and compare barcode #s. In all likelyhood, they'll be identical.

Good Luck!

Stores can read their own barcodes and would know if it didnt come from there.you could take it in , tell them it was a gift and they can tell you if its from them , you might try to pawn or sell it and buy the one you want with the money.

Yes, stores are able to tell if you purchase a product at their location with the U.P.C. code, it will not show up in their computer as their product.
