Green Day is made for fun and goofy punk. They arent the traditional punk; like the Sex Pistols mentioned above. I can see how they branched off of the Ranmones, but very distantly. green Day however, has lost their punk edge. So the realy battle is whether you are talking about 'old' or 'new'. MxPx is west coast punk and is mellow. I would have to say that old GreenDay wins this contest.
