I have a record player hooked up to my computer, and what I am doing is making CDs from all the old records we have. Is that illegal in any way, I am not selling them for profit, I am just turning all the old records into CDs.

Copyright laws say that you may make copies for your own use only. You'll be breaking the law if you give away or sell the copies.

I think that since you own the records its okay, its not against the law to re-record albums on audio cassette tape so it should not be to put them on cd.........

No because you own the music. If you were to sell them though, that would be illegal.

As long as you are not selling them, it should be fine. My boyfriend does this all the time. We just listen to them, thats all.

As long as you make them for yourself , that's all right. If you start giving them to your friend, even for free, that's piracy. Have a nice day.
