There are 2-year nursing programs, some of them paid for by medical facilites locally. VERY high-availability and in such demand that there are almost always signing bonuses, and high income rates (over $50k/year and up to $90k+/year).

insurance sales or real estate sales.
If you want a job that pays, you'll have to go into sales. Believe me, no one wants to go to school for 5 years, but we do it because we want to make either money or a difference, and we suck at sales. Besides, we are usually penny-pinchers ourselves.
Insurance only takes about 2 weeks to get trained. if you're good, you'll do well, Real Estate is a little harder, but easier because everyone wants a house. Insurance is a lose-lose situation (for the buyer).
Good Luck!

Search the internet for tech schools or trade schools. They usually are a year or two and get you a good start into all kinds of careers.

Go to cosmetology school. Cut hair and do nails. Some make pretty good money at it and the training is relatively short.

go to LPN/LVN school, then when your child gets a little older, you can move up & be an RN, but hon, there's never a time when they don't need nurses!
