Do you mean covering an existing entry? Without more details this would be a very difficult question to answer. Is the entryway on a gabled wall, or hipped. Is your house single story?
Perhaps an awning would satisfy your needs, or maybe what you really need is gutters.

you can add a balcony if you have two-storys. if you have one-story, you can use an awning or use two column (on each side) and lay a covering connecting the columns to the end of the roof. make sure it is waterproof and durable. hope this helps!!
