Isn't this the obvious?? If you don't think this then you are obviously very sheltered and nieve. Our governements "war on drugs" has a lot to do with instigating drug related violence. Our population is also completely obsessed and brainwashed by TV and media so I'm sure a lot of the sex comes from that.

What makes you think today's society is anymore filled with sex, drugs, and violence than previous societies were at any other point in the last 3000 years?

500 years ago or 1000 years ago I suspect the average person had just as much sex as the average person does now. And there were lots of drugs available then: alcohol, tobacco, peyote, cocoa leaves, opium, etc. And certainly there was LOTS of violence (The Crusades, The Dark Ages, all the ancient wars, etc.). People were killing each other all the time.

So perhaps the only difference is that you are noticing the sex, drugs, and violence in culture today, and it may seem like a lot to you, but you never had a chance to experience the sex, drugs, and violence that happened in the cultures of the past so it just seems to you like there must be more now. I doubt it.

This question is loaded with the possibility of many different responses, however I think it is quite clear to say that "The World" has been this way for a very long time.

Whether it be Christians or Heretics burned at the stake, young woman's breasts being ironed with a hot stone in Cameroon, or 12 century conventional warfare, the world keeps spinning and society is still filled with chaos.

I find it curious that one can stand in the present and gasp without having any idea of the past. Open a text book on the Roman empire and read of their sexual perversions and violent behavior.

Civilization is only skin deep.

Ask yourself a question. When was the last time you heard of someone killing a man, witnessing a woman being raped and getting drunk all before their fourteenth birthday?

Always has been ~~ always will be. You just have to find your own path. I'm not totally against drug use, but I feel it's something you have to have the upper hand on. Sex is great when you use it as an expression of love. Not as a controlling vice or as a way to escape reality. Violence does have a purpose, if you try to hurt with my family I will retaliate. But violence wouldn't be necessary if people acted right in the first place. Too bad there is always going to be some nut job out there!

Yes that is true and our leaders are the worst. In our society most people have only the lowest chakra opened up (the root chakra). This is where the drive for sex, violence, power, money and so on resides. The society encourage the drive for power and money. With that also comes sex, drugs and violence because it is the energies from the same chakra.

While it certainly exists and can't be denied...I also see society as filled with Love, an unaltered reality, and peace...for everything in existence is an opposite to something else...and it depends where you choose to focus. We should pay just as much attention to the positive as we do the negative. What you just described is a result of society...and society is "Us"...and this is where our focus should be...causes...not results. Society is often referred to as something separate from ourselves...when we are a component of it...and fail to see how we contribute to it.

I do. I had my day where I thought the sex and drugs were fun, but now looking back on it, it is ruining our world. So much for the sex, drugs and peace of the 70s. They didn't last long.

This is nothing new - read the ancient Greek and Roman philosophers. They are also complaining about the bad habits that are entering the culture and the bad behavior of the youth of the time.

I do! When my mom was going to school, none of this went on as much as it does now, and if it did, it was not put out in public. the world was a lot more safe than it is today. I wish it was like that today!
