The major Crises of the modern DC Universe have been:
CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS where all the multi-dimensions of the DC Comics Universe were consolidated into one "coherent" whole, and was refered to by the few characters who actually remembered any of what happened simply as "The Crisis".
Next came ZERO HOUR: CRISIS IN TIME whereupon most of the various inconsistancies of the continuity problems created in ConIE were straightened out.
Most recently, 2004 saw IDENTITY CRISIS, whereupon the whole concept of secret identities and how far one would go to protect them was examined.
And DC just finished INFINITE CRISIS, whereupon the events of ConIE were almost undone even as other problems arose. What reprecussions and continuity problems might result from that remain to be seen. If any characters remember events from this limited series, it will probably be "The Crisis" of reference in the future.
Because of events in INFINITE CRISIS, the DC universe went a whole year without Superman, Batman (along with Nightwing and Robin), and Wonder Woman. That year is being recapped in DC's current weekly limited series 52.
Meanwhile, all the regular titles jumped ahead ONE YEAR LATER within their regular series. Most of the new titles are OYL, except for a couple that are dealing with the INFINITE CRISIS aftermath.
The aforementioned missing characters have returned OYL. The Flash is starting a new series, but at the moment who the new Scarlet Speedster is remains a mystery and between IDENTITY CRISIS and INFINITE CRISIS, the Justice League of America has yet to reform, but will soon.

oh there have been many crisis's that he has been through
1. Where all the alternate earths converged into one
2. Where he fought Doomsday and was killed
3. When he came back from the dead and was 2 different Superman's , Blue and red but then joined back together
Comic books are like soap operas.
And I always thought Superman's adoptive father was Jonathan or John Kent not George
New one to me

Post-Crisis refers to everything after 1986's Crisis on Infinite Earths. That didn't just affect Superman, It rebooted all of DC comics.

I think, though I could be wrong, that this is referring to the Crisis on Infinite Earths series. Google it for more info.
