That is the basic definition of bi-curious, yes, and it works for both men and women.
This should NOT be confused with the term "bisexual."
I can only answer for me, for where I'm coming from. I'm a lesbian in my late 30s, who has been in a committed relationship for 8 years. (We would be legally married by now, if it was legal where we live.)
Back in my 20's when I was single and part of the dating scene, there was a definite bias in the lesbian community against bisexual women. That takes some explanation.
First, when I use the word bisexual, I mean people who have and act on romantic feelings for both genders.
There are plenty of young women, even moreso now than 10 years ago, who believe bisexual means "I'll marry a man, but messing around with women when I'm drunk is sorta fun." This is more properly called bi-curious.
THOSE types of bisexual women are the ones that the lesbian community is really against. Most of my lesbian friends have, at one time or another, dated a bisexual woman, gotten emotionally involved, and then gotten dumped for a guy, because the girl wasn't in it "for real" ... just "for fun."
That being said, I do have bisexual friends, both men and women, and I don't care one way or the other that they are bisexual, just as I don't consider whether a person is straight or gay before deciding to befriend them. Cool people come in all flavors, you know?
So I will say this in conclusion to all the bisexual people out there, regardless of how you define the word: if you get into anything more than just a casual hookup with a gay person, PLEASE tell them that you are bisexual, and talk about what that word means to you... talk about whether you are truly bisexual, or simply bi-curious.
Open communication about this (like most things in a relationship) can really keep people from getting hurt.

Some are straight women just curious, and yet others are truly attracted to both sexes and just have never had a same gender relation. There is nothing wrong nor looser about it. Bi's get bashed as they are too straight for gays and too gay for straights. Like Woody Allen said, being bi just means less chances of being alone on Saturday night.

I trust the term "bi-curious." I know some people who are bi, but want to retain the lable "straight," will say they are bi-curious, but I believe a truly bi-curious person, male or female, is open minded, experienced in straight set, but is contemplating trying same sex loving to see if it works for him or her.
Some of them may never try, some may and decide it isn't for them, and yet others will become either bisexual or homosexual.
Sometimes the term is missued by individuals who have had same-sex lovemaking, maybe even same-sex affairs, but are just trying to not be categorized as either bi or homosexual. (gay or lesbian)

My outlook on this whole sexuality issue is very simple. Everyone is bi-sexual. HOWEVER, the degree on which sex they find more appealing can be very broad. Its a scale of .01 all the way to 100.00. Bi-curious means they are coming to the realization that society controls our lifes on the outside. But on the inside, we are different and we want to be who we really are. So we tend to think "what if I ditched what society says?". I find few women attractive. I find a lot of men attractive. I prefer Men 99.99%. Its also like interracial dating. I live in a city with a WIDE variety of ethnic groups. I am white and I prefer black. But not all black men are attractive to me. You get the picture?

bi curious women are simply women who had lousy men and now are trying to get sexually satisfied thru other means...life is too short . have fun...one way or the other. and if it is better with a female than with males, then just stay with the best there is.

Honestly, I think it's curiousity. Then if curiousity goes further, then they can be considered as bi-sexual. Hey, nothing wrong with having the best of both worlds!

most likely, bi-curious women are probably married and they most likely wont "turn" gay. bi-curious women are just that; curious because they have never been with a female, and they want to see and experience what it is like to be with another woman
