why do the soccer goalies wear different color uniforms than the team?

they after where a color completely diffrent from the teams and ref's color it shows the players that they are the goalie and it shows ref that that person can pick the ball up and cant leave the box.

When the box gets full the ref can be sure that the guy punching the ball is the goalie.
