How does the new Pirates compare to the first one...is it worth the trip to the movies?

I saw it yesterday. It was really good, but not for anybody who gets grossed out easily or gets scared really easily.
There's one or two moments that make you jump, a few suspenseful moments, a lot of "holy crap" moments, and some moments where you wish they would just get on with the ending.
I REALLY liked it, it had some humor and it was very compelling to watch.
I personally didn't like the ending, but only because it set up the next movie and there was no resolution (that's my personal taste).
I'd say GO SEE IT!

I thought it was well made and very funny. However I don't think they explained the lore that this story was based on very well so there were some confusing parts. The other drawback is that it ends with a sort of "to be continued" feeling, so there is no resolution to the story; kind of frustrating. If I were you I would do a little quick research on the legends of Davy Jones and his locker as well as the Flying Dutchman so that you go into the theater with an idea of what they are talking about. I am looking forward to next summer so I can find out what happens!

It's about a 2 1/2 hour set up for the third movie which comes out next summer. It's not bad and there are a few twists which make ya think a little. Personally I liked it its half way between a comedy and a horror movie (even though th emonsters aren't that scary).

I've heard it's a good idea to watch the first movie before you go see the second because there's a lot of stuff that relates to the original, especially some of the jokes (like on some of the trailers where it shows Jack telling his 2nd mate to hide the rum when he sees Elizabeth). The ending's supposedly a cliff-hanger that doesn't get solved until the thrid movie.

Yes, it is. I saw it yesterday and loved it. However, it left a LOT of loose ends and was confusing in some areas. I do recommend it. But some parts were kind of dorky and cliche.
And yes, like someone above said, it did have a few revolting moments. But nothing would warrant choosing not to see it at all.

I heard the second 1 is disgusting at times, and scary, and a really good movie. It lasts like 2 and a half hours.

My boyfriend and i went to see it on opening night and let me tell you i kept waiting for it to end, its 2 hours and 45 min. long and the same **** keeps happening over and over again, its like do something different already, they definately could have summed this movie up in 1 hour and 45 minutes instead of making you waste the extra hour of your life waiting for it to end. we actually left about 45 minutes early because we just couldn't take it anymore, i would raher have waited to see it on HBO or something and i feel like i could have spent my money on a new pair of shoes and been much more satisfied....my boyfriend said he doesn't know if he would even want to watch it at home for free. of course johnny was great to see and peek at for a while but other than that it was just not nearly as good as the first one, my advice WAIT watch it for free don't waste the time and money to go see it in the theatre unless you just have nothing better to do than waste your money and precious time.

It isn't as good as the first movie and editors should have edited out some stuff so it isn't so long. Still, there are a lot of funny scenes in it. There will be another one and maybe it will be as good as the first.

Yes! It is cruddy good! But there might be a freakishly long line to see the movie. I wanted to see more when it ended. Guess I'll have to wait until #3 comes out.

Definantly. It was amazing. Usually you expect the sequal to bomb (especially for disney) but this was completly amazing. It had a great story, great graphics, it wasn't nearly as cheezy as the first and it is even a little scary. Plus it leaves you with an amazing cliffhanger at the end.
