I like to break out the play-dough in the kitchen and make things with my daughter and then put them in the oven so they are hard and she can play with them afterwards without getting messy.
Watching a movie and eating popcorn is also an easier way to enjoy some time together. If your kids are too young to just sit and watch a movie, you could bring out coloring books and color while the movie is on too.
Baking any kind of food can be fun for kids, especially if it's something sweet and they get to lick the bowl afterwards. Then when it's done baking you've got a sweet treat to enjoy together too!!

On rainy days I have a whole lot of things to do. I don't know how old your kids are but I have 6 month old, twin 2yr olds, 3 yr old, 5 yrold, and a 6 yr old. We do a lot of arts and crafts stuff. If you don't have a lot of imagination in that area, get a bunch of news paper or magazines or any kind of paper and pass it out. Let them tear it up in any way they want and then give them glue. Tell them to glue it any way they want. If it's not thundering or lightning, I let them put on their swim suites and play in the rain. We also play board games like Candy Land or I clear a big enough space on the floor and we all sit down and roll a ball really fast to each other. Set aside some time to watch a family movie or get the radio out and have them dance around like idiots. Play hide and go seek. Let them dress up in your clothes if you have girls. Fix their hair or let them fix yours and do your make up.
