George Bush is supposed to be a Christian but he almost makes me hate God.

But that's because his jesus and my Jesus are two completely different people.

My Jesus threw the money changers out of the Temple.

George Bush's money changers ARE the temple.

My Jesus told me that the meek will inherit the Earth.

George Bush's jesus told him that the warlords can steal the Earth.

My Jesus did his best preaching wearing a dirty robe while He was sitting on a rock in the desert. He gave away money to the poorest and neediest while He said, "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and render unto God what is God's"

George Bush's Jesus preaches in a ten-thousand dollar suit from a climate-controlled glass-and-gold temple full of velvet-covered pews and he always seems to need money for more satellite TV channels, warmongers, and rich people.

My Jesus died for my sins and He told me I'd have Eternal Salvation.

George Bush's jesus killed us for George's sins. And all we got was thirty pieces of silver from a 2001 tax rebate because some of us were lame enough to vote for him.

My Jesus said to turn the other cheek and love thy neighbor.

Well, you know what George's jesus tells him.

Face it. True Christians have Jesus.

George Bush's christians have a gold-plated calf in cowboy boots.

I think you're correct. Hearing and not listening stems predominantly from focusing on some agenda or other to the exclusion of what might cause you to rethink your goals. Jesus was talking to people who were empowered by their position and while they enjoyed power they were not holding their own to the standards they laid on the general population. (Hypocrites)
Today, I think this applies to most politicians but none more so than those from the church of liberalism. These are willing to buy votes through the legitimizing of illegal immigrant voters. Or by embracing the Al Sharptons and Jesse Jacksons who literally preach racial hatred into black America blaming the conservatives yet until Barak Obama there have been no black leaders in the liberals' parties. I didn't say few, I said NONE. (Hypocrites)

Hearing or "listening" is an active participation event. Too many people have decided on a course of action and ignore anything contradictory to that path.

Both the left and right are guilty of that. Each do not allow for the truths of the other. Neither look at history to make informed decisions.

I think many people cannot hear or listen.

There are two different kinds of hearing problems: physical deafness and selective hearing. Selective hearing tends to affect a much larger proportion of our population than those that are deaf or deafened.

You learn about Selective Hearing when you have children. It's very common from the age of about 7 or 8 until into adulthood.

well yes it is possible mentally and medically. In the context you are asking the question, it is the former. Humans have the ability to ignore sounds that the ear picks up especially when the brain is preoccupied with something else and hence the impression of the "listener" being deaf.

the physically deaf cannot hear. And many people can hear but cannot listen. That is, they do not take in, nor think about what they have heard
Listening is active hearing.

I am sure that if Jesus had said: Come to me all those that want to be millionaires and the story would have been different.

or someone could have punched their ears

or they could have stabbed it

or they could have yelled really hard

or maybe a bomb could have gone off, and they lost their sense to hear

or they could have stuck in a pencil to torture themselves

i have a million more...........
