You have an internal failure in the transmission --- you REALLY need to get this fixed by a professional.

The PARK PAWL inside the transmission is broken.......Get it fixed by a professional. This probably happened if the wheels were pushing against the curb when the car was put into or taken out of park. This put pressure on the park pawl....and when you had to jerk it out of park....it broke. This will also happen if the car is parked on a steep hill and the parking brake is not applied before shifting into Park, or not shifting out of Park before releasing the parking brake.
