I spent one summer in day care as the oldest kid enrolled. Within a week I had most of the class surround me and attack without provocation. Its because we are the biggest kid in school that we are under attack in world politics. We can do some things to work towards a better world opinion of us but I won't hold my breath waiting for them to stop their political attack. We are the sole remaining super power in the world and nothing is going to appease them until and unless we surrender our status. That 's only gonna happen by war. So get used to the idea of being the bad guy based solely on the fact that we are who we are. As long as we act justly in our international dealings, we will be spoken against and worked with. If we begin to bully our way through world issues, then we can expect a gang attack. We still have to look out for our interests, but we need to bring along other nations to the court of world opinion and that is what President Bush is trying to do with the North Korean, and Iranian issues. That's why we don't take over other nations' oil trade. That's why we are bending over backwards to keep good relations with China and Russia. That's also why we have to keep a strong military and be ready for whatever may come.

How about we don't try to please the european countries that hated us and probably will always (look at history, the french hated us after ww2, right after we saved them.)

The Iraqi war brought surfaced all of this anti-americanism but it was already there long before it. Even the UK BBC is becoming anti-american. Anti-americanism is a very dangerous ideaology. To think that the nation that time after time toppled dictators, preached against fascism, ended the Soviet Union, protected and saved europeans multiple times, etc.. is now a fascist country?

You know it is odd how France hates us for Iraq. When it was not so long ago when they were gunning down innocent Algerians in the streets and colonizing the poor country. Go look at pictures of algerian-french colonization. And this wasn't even that long ago!

Anyways, you have to realize that long after Bush is gone anti-americansim will always be there. There will be no "brighter picture" for the US. Never will be. If we Isolate ourselves again then people will say we are selfish. If we end dictatorships then we are meddling into affairs. If we give money to Africa, we are not giving enough.

So according to you america is too selfish? Like when we sent our OWN troops to rebuild Iraq, as we are doing now, we are selfish? How dare you call the USA selfish when your country probably hasn't given a fifth of that to the world.

Are you canadian? british? french? You are too cowardly to say, what a surprise. Calling americans selfish is plain awful. Buffet gave BILLIONS (yeah not millions, BILLIONS) of dollard to Gates Foundation, America time after time stuck up for the people who couldn't fight for themselves. How can you sit there and say USA is selfish when you probaby never donated anything to the world?
