The fact that I dress mostly black or don use high heels all the time, or don't spend all my days at the beauty salon, shouldn't tell people that I'm not sweet. I actually am, or that I'm too deep, when I'm light and love to smile. Why shall we trust the outside and not take the time to know the inside of people?

I know a person have to dress for the ocassion, to go to work, to go to church, to go to university... but when it's their free time, vacation... people still judge this and it shouldn't matter. Oh, Goth people are not coldhearted, actually most goth are really deep and insightful and in need of love.

Good question. I had similar feelings of resentment towards image for a long time. But sometimes the attention you give your appearance reflects the attention you give a lot of other things in your life... or at least that's what people will infer. So here's where I stand now. 1) Dress and look how you like, but realize that you will be judged for it nomatter what. 2) If someone judges you to be something you're not because the clothes you are wearing, it's there loss, and you probably wouldn't want to spend a lot of time with that person.
I dislike it when people wear hi-heals, so +10 from me!

Fair or not, that is how you are judged. You either have to play the game, or don't complain about the people who do. I would like to wear shorts and flip-flops all day but I can't. I would still be the same person, just as smart as I am now, but the population as a whole would look at me different if I showed up at work dressed like that. That's just the way it is.

Unfortunately, what you think is fair and/or unjustified does not and will never have much impact on the hard fact that people judge you by what you wear. People who are neatly dressed, in fashionabel attire, are deemed to have pride, not only in their appearance, but in themselves. They attract other responsible people who posess a healthy measure of self respect, who are truly interested in getting acquainted, and who will appreciate your character traits, i.e., sweetness, generosity, compasion, etc. When you dress all in black, the first thing that comes to my mind is someone who's trying to look "gothic," which means that's the kind of people you're going to attract, and, in my experience with my daughter, it's doubtful that those people give a hoot in hell whether you're sweet or not. In fact, if any of them can work up enough curiosity about another human being to find it out, being sweet may count against you in their society.

How a person dresses says a lot about the person, I like to dress neatly and look good even if i am just going to the grocery store or do my laundry. I still think i should look like a million bucks. My boyfriend thinks that because i look decent i am cheating on him. I think if you look good you feel good and i am all about it! Now you know the inside scoop.

Usually people that do dress in heels, suits, have their nails manicured and hair done are classy, but for those of us you don't like their nails manicured all of the time, don't have the time or the money to have my hair done constantly and can't walk in heels, well there is nothing less classy about me. But since people like to judge a book by it's cover, that is what you get.

i think as a woman you need to spice yourself, go to the salon or make your hair at home, dress nicely and try to look good pls, it really matters, if you are looking for a job, you go there looking like you come from a place with no electricity, or dressed shabily the other person dressed properly smartly, clean, with good grooming will get the job and you will be left there stranded.

Or how people assume I'm smart just because I wear glasses. It doesn't mean I'm smart, it means I've got eye problems! People need to take the time to know the person for who they are instead of making assumptions based on how they dress...or if they just happen to wear glasses.

People are stupid, these days it's your outside apperance that counts, if you don't "dress for success" then you are considered, basically, a lesser person, an outsider, a deviant.

To my knowledge, the way you dress reflects your taste, not other personality traits.
