It's false arrogance caused by a lot of propaganda and their feeling of superiority based on religion. They truly believe that their 'Christian' beliefs make them the best in the world and gives them the right to look down on everything and everybody else.

America is the top when it comes to rights in principle, meaning our legal system and government are mandated to view ALL people as the same. This means that there are no special people, higher or lower in the eyes of the law.
One needs to look at other countrys today and or the rest of the world before the USA set forward what is right.
A woman in many parts of the world is lower than a farm animal, owned and controled by the male members of her family. She may be beaten or killed by a brother or father for a number of reasons, and the rest of the people look at her as if it is her fault and that she has shammed her family. When you understand this, it will help you to know how well off we all are because of the effects of the USA around the world.
In many kingdoms today, your social position comes from the level that your family is, not on anything to do with your abilitys. You are born with a title like 'Lord' or 'Sir' and the rest of the people can never rise to your level.
As to gay people, they have all the rights that I do here. The fact that for most of our society a marrage is the foundation of a family, often intending to bring children into the world that are a product of both familys bloodlines and this cannot be done by homosexuals!
No matter what popular myths there may be about homosexuality, it is a phsycological ailment. Ever wonder about the "Nature vs Nurture" debate? Hmmmm, if it is nature, why didn't it get 'Darwined' out? How could a homosexual trend get passed on to the next generation when the nature of this so called trend cannot cause a next generation?
We all have the sexual potential, what we do with it requires our volition. As a boy, I desired Marylin Monroe and admired Lee Marvin. For that to become switched, something had to be wrong, no matter how much todays politically correct trends try to gloss over that fact.
I am not anti-gay or anti anyones personal problems, and I have no desire to change the family foundation from NORMAL to make these people seem less abnormal.
Thankfully, in the USA, I have every right to state my beliefs in this manner. In other countrys, I could get shot for my opinion. This is a further example of how all our rights are best served in the US.
Thank you.

I personally don't think that the USA is "on top" of human rights. Gay rights, the telephone eavesdropping policy, and to some degree, the disabled and women, are all examples of how the US does not protect human rights to the extent that they should be. They are better than a lot of countries out there however. I would much rather live here than China or Cuba.

How do gay people not have equal rights? Do we stone them? throw them in prison? That answer would be no. The majority of Americans do believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. So if denying gays the right to be married drops us to the bottom of the human rights list, then so be it. I can guarantee you that there are people being exploited, tortured, and hurt all over the world for a hell of a lot less than being gay. So don't minimize their plight by your agenda. Shame on you.

I think we need to back up just a little. It's the Republicans who take away all the human rights (and equal rights) away from people. The Rep's speak of values & christianity, and yet they are constantly taking human rights away from the poorest of citizens (cutting Medicaid/Medicare programs, VA benefits, student loan programs, school lunch programs, etc). I'm talking about the needy people, the ones who have next to no money, the ones who have no medical insurance for themselves or their children. I do believe gays should have equal rights when it comes to marriage & partnerships, prochoice relationships, if you will. The world is changing. Our laws and constitution needs to change with it. Not stuffed into already rich pockets through tax exemptions and decreased taxes for the richest 1% of Americans!

Are gay people being tossed into prison for who they are?
Equal rights and Human rights aren't even in the same ballpark. A does not equal B, so therefore your question is illogical.

awesome , you confirmed your case contained in the most admirable way absolutely everyone can attain ; i will't compete with that , yet i'm disenchanted you're protecting the incorrect fringe of the case . regardless of if Gays/Lesbians are [as you assert] born a collection-way , that does no longer mean the society might want to conform to something as unusual and unnatural as Gayness and Lesbianism . Human body became created for adult men to fit in women and vice versa ; unwell needs must be both disciplined and eradicated from the Gays/Lesbians community - they should not be dealt with on the same aspect as paedophiles [crimes] or incest or animal abuse or any of the different unwell sexual needs our community has yet they must be dealt with , its an ailment to seek the unnatural because you renounce your humanity for an unusual sexual want ; surrendering on your inner unnatural calls received't serve you or the community any strong . The above is the case if we assumed that Gays/Lesbians are born that way . Gayness or Lesbianism is a received habit/want - generated from early baby abuse or emotional stress or maybe organic evil interest , yet do not tell me they're born with it . in the adventure that they were born with this unwell needs of their hearts then why won't be able to we see animals doing it ? you won't be able to be sure this unnatural relation except in Human community [ and animals are extra linked to their instincts than us ] . All i'm keeping , if we've the least recognize for our nature as human , we are able to not enable this sort of ailment to spread or a minimum of be legalized , it ought to stay commonly used as a sin or a detested community , no longer out of hatred or refusing the different - only a thanks to diminish the an infection till eventually a treatment is developed . Peace .

I'm sorry, enlighten me...which basic human rights don't American gays have? They have all the same rights in the Constitution that the rest of us do. And before you say "marriage", they even have that right too, though just like the rest of us, they can only marry someone of the opposite sex.

Rights are not "given" to people.
People are _born_ with rights.
A right only extends as far as another's rights. Rights "given to gays," are therefore, arguably, rights taken from others, and so are not rights at all.
Thus, the only rights that gays can legitimately fight for are universal human rights, shared by all others.
A truly judicious government would neither discriminate against nor protect gays any more than anyone else. And it would allow private citizens the freedom of association to discriminate as they please in their own life choices, just as people discriminate between Coke and Pepsi or hot dogs and hamburgers.

what are you talking about? Gay people do have equal rights. They can marry the same as I can. They are asking for special rights to demand of religious institutions the same status in their faith as heteroes. This is a religious issue, not a rights issue. If they want to choose that lifestyle, nobody stops them. If they want to commit themselves to one another, they have civil unions.
How can you compare this to other countries where they aren't accepted but are stoned to death. What other country gives them the same rights as the rest of us. Only countries like the U.S. that's who. I suspect your criticism is more from ignorance or political agenda than from concern for human rights.
