My Opinion: Theodore Roosevelt. It was because of the tactics and "bullish" attitude that the United States started to assert itself as a World Power. He modernized the Navy. ( His Big Stick ), and through political savvy, help create Panama and thus the Panama Canal which in turn changed the global map forever in trade and helped the U.S. economically 10 fold.

Hands down bar-none,RONALD REAGAN,He toppled the most
powerful evil empire in the world or in its history,the SOVIET UNION.Never in the history of the world has this ever been
accomplished.Napoleon with all of Europe's army,Hitler with
275 divisions and 3 million of the worlds finest fighting machine
couldn't accomplish this goal! Uncle Ron did it with out even firing a shot.He was holding the cards and he new how to play them.
Uncle Ron used this country's greatest asset's (G N P)
its wealth.He took us from the terrible mess that Kennedy,Johnson,Nixon,and that deplorable Carter had put
us in to built up our military,trickle down economics(of which we
are still bearing the fruits of)and put our country back up
to the standards of where it is now and should have been

IF JFK WOULD have moved to the left or right a little , and avoided those shots, our country's history would have been totally different from November, 1963 to the present .
