NIntendo Game Cube has the best graphics for younger childrens games. Its problem is it really is geared for children younger than 11-14. They do have a few age appropriate games.
Playstation 2 has dozens of games for preteen and young teen players. Depending on how sensitive you are to simulated blood or violence,your choices will be more limited. They still have a good teen selection,much more inthe Mature category.
The consoles are fairly expensive,and games are also. You have to think about this in terms of having the system for at least five years. Again, Playstation is going to give you a very good selection for the next five years.

Nintendo consoles usually have a lot of games that would be deemed appropriate for a family to play together. Most of Nintendo's first party games are rated Everyone, plus they are the most enjoyable to play.
The PS2 probably has the most games that are rated Early Childhood, mainly just because it has the most games in general.

I would prefer Gamecube because I have 50 rated E games and 35 rated T games Plus you can play Super smash Bros. brawl on the wii or gamecube

Nintendo has always catered to children, while XBox is more adult oriented. Playstation will offer more choices in genre for teens and younger players. Nintendo is the "safest" best so you won't have to monitor content as much. Read your labels, the ratings are pretty correct in analyzing content (much better than movie ratings!).

they all have a lot of them but Game Cube by nintendo... hoever if you were to wait like this october or november the new Nintendo Wii will be coming out with better games than befoire!

the psp has some good games for boys of that age and it has some puzzle games and stuff for younger kids
