For an intellectual you are pretty snotty about it. Maybe you're not an intellectual after all, which is why no one is thanking YOU. What the hell have you done that people have to be thankful towards you for?
If nobody asked you for help, you shouldn't be expecting gratitude for it.

A) You don't, you choose to.
B) I wouldn't want to be labeled. Intellectual or any other label.
C) I often get thanks from people, either in a public way or privately via email.
