Some people say that as the moon moves the tides, it also has an affect on us as we are 75% water.

Zodiacal signs having an effect on our behavior is not supported by science. The zodiac signs are simply the constellations across the ecliptic and constellations are determined arbitrarily by humans, different in different cultures, and we're the ones that give them stories to go along with it. So it's a little silly for us first to make up the constellation and make up their stories and meanings and then to say that the constellations are telling us something we didn't create for ourselves.
However, the moon does have a huge impact on life on earth because of it's size. It's mass, along with the sun, creates the tides which regulate not only cycles of sea life, but of creatures near the shore as well. Also, it has been shown that in the absence of artificial light, women's menstrual cycles will get in sync with the moon cycle and the waxing and waning light of the moon is important in circadian rhythms for all animals. Many cultures still keep track of time and years by the moon rather than by the sun.

To the extent that it does, it involves our sleep patterns
and a specialized area of the brain called the hypothalamus.
If you travel around the world, you may suffer from jet lag,
where by you have trouble sleeping because your internal
clock is not in sync with the local sunrise and sunset.
After several days (up to a week) is needed to reset your
internal clock to the new time.
The moon may have some affect on the reset mechanism.
Certainly there are other "circadian rhythms", such as a
woman's menstruation cycle, that are more in tune with
the cycle of the moon.

It has a powerfull effect on fishermen and people who work on the sea shore but not on anyone else.
Despite my last statement I think the moon has a great philisophical and artistic importance, millions of people must look up at the moon and wonder about the mysteries of the universe every day.

Your assertion is incorrect. The moon does not have a powerful effect on our lives. There is no evidence to suggest even a remote possibility. It does however have a small effect, particularly when full as it provides more light at night which can affect our outdoor activities.

Actually, that myth was busted. The moon is just that...the moon. It has no effect on our moods. I hate it when people say "oh it's a full moon, all the crazies are coming out". No, it's just a coincidence that the crazies came out during a full moon.

It is a huge ball of rock with a huge mass orbiting only a few hundred kilometers from earth. The gravity that it exerts causes the tides.

It exerts pressure on us the same way it alters the tides, this pressure alters our blood pressure which in turn alters our moods, there is a lot more to this which can be explained scientifically. There is nothing magical about it at all.
