I've been playing WOW for a while, but I'd like to find something somewhat similar on PS2. I know it wouldn't be as robust, but it's worth a shot.

If by "similar to WoW", you mean MMORPG...then play Final Fantasy 11.
I think it's around 12 dollars per month, and additional 1 dollar per month per additional character you make. You may have difficulty finding it in stores, so purchase it online. Your PS2 will need the network adapter, and HDD and an online connection. I recommend a USB Keyboard as well, as it significantly will enhance gameplay.

Well for online play, I don't know if there is one like it, but a good game to try might be Shadow of the Colossus. I don't think you're going to find a game on the PS2 that has the free reign and creativity of WoW though.
