I want to celebrate my white, protestant European heritage. Is that racist? There aren't many of us left in my city.

It is politically incorrect to be proud of your Anglo-Saxon heritage at this juncture in history. So, yes it would offend. In response to the question of racism, yes it would be considered racist but to deny you the right to celebrate your heritage because you are Anglo -Saxon is also racist. There are no easy solutions but one simple one is Love. After all, we all share one common bond, we are all human and we all came from the same seed.

I'm white and I know exactly what you mean. As whites we aren't alllowed to celebrate our heritage. We are told we have it everyday but that isn't true because almost everything that envolves white people (tv show, etc) has other races in it too where as the other races heritage celebrations usually only have their race in it.

Minorities are offended if a white person does something because they are the true racist.

(Hawaii is not an "other country") I don't know the context of this but the prominant culture in America is a variation of the Anglo Saxon heritage. I am a big believer in teaching multiculturalism but we should not forget to teach kids the many aspect of American culture that came from England.

I am glad to see someone bring this up that they should be celebrating anglo-saxon's because I have been victim of reverse discrimination for over twenty years.
I would support and have supported the repeal of affirmative action - how long must we put up with this when clearly everyone should be judged on merit not race.

Get points for entrance into colleges for your race what crock of bull.

lets pay some reparations ang get on with our lives
I support the $40 and a mule initiative.

ooohhhh thats just bad

no its not racist

I don't get the whole argument, either side.

Your city may be becoming devoid of WASPS but believe me, the power of the US still sits firmly in your hands. Even if you are poor -- the group you choose to associate yourself with and to which you were born is the richest and most powerful group in the world.

If you want to have pride, have it. I am also a WASP by birth -- just remember, every day is WASP day -- you are deferred to, respected and regarded well by those in power, everywhere. So do as you will and harm no one.

It depends on HOW it's done. I for one could be a idiot and take it as racist - but I was raised better n' that. The reason it wouldn't blow over so well is because of how poeple 'celebrated' it in the past (KKK, Nazis, etc.). However, it wouldn't be considered racist if you left out these types of assholes.

I am an angelo-saxon and find the word minority to be offensive. Please, when you address others try to be a bit diplomatic and perhaps use the term, majorities? You don't need permission from anybody to celebrate in America, you just need common sense.

Personally, I have a problem with Black History Month. Twenty-eight days to celebrate..WOW!

However, I don't have a problem with it!
