"Water grass" is not really one species of weed. I would bring a sample to your local university extension service or a garden supply store to see if they can identify it. If it proves to be a perennial species, rather than an annual grass like crabgrass, you may have no choice but to kill it off with Roundup, wait a bit, and then reseed that part of your lawn. If it is nutsedge, which is sometimes called water grass, it may respond to a product called Manage. Here are a couple links that may prove helpful. Good luck!

Dig it all up and start over. Sorry but thats about it. Mowing the lawn every few days, twice a week also helps but does not eradicate the problem.
