I want to help her with this because I love her so much but I am not a psychiatrist. Any online literature on this subject would be so appreciated. I am beside myself and I can't bear the pain in her eyes. Thank you so much. Please help. Paul Cooper besttankerman@yahoo.com

Take my advice: She is the only one who can fix herself. You can't fix her. Visit resources like www.coping.org with her to get some information.

I was in the same situation as you are and I married her hoping it would help her be a happier person and that once she was happily married we would be happy every after. It didn't work out that way. Eventually, instead of "fixing her", within a few years in her eyes I became the REASON she used for her self-esteem problems. I'm now divorced and had to fight through several months of breaking the depressive patterns I had developed as a result of spending 6 years with someone like that.

unfortunately the only person who can help her is herself and the reason i no this is because i suffer from the same thing ask her when she was last truthfully confident and happy and no matter what it is do it together as a couple i know it sounds silly but it really works and also gives you two as a couple bond.
Hope this helps.
