Since I live in the NYC area and take mass transportation a lot, I am grateful tat there hasn't been any attacks yet, and it could be that our police force and leaders are doing their job well, but it just seems so weird that these kind of atacks haven't happened on our soil yet. I was also here for 9/11...knew people who lost their lives. But it seems too weird, almost eerie that suicide attacks have not happened yet....it seems like it would be so easy to do. It is a scary thing to think about, but I guess we just have to live our lives, and put trust that the police, etc. are protecting us, right? Please let me know your thoughts and fears....am I the only one who fears this will happen someday in the U.S.???

I am speaking to more of things like a suicide bomber walking onto a bus or into a mall or restuarant. Obviously 9/11 is the worst suicide attack we have had to this point. But after that horrible day, I am just surprised there haven't been any "smaller" suicide attacks like we have seen in Israel or Iraq, etc.

Given how porous our borders are I, too, am surprised that we haven't had many "smaller" terrorist incidents. I do believe that it can and will happen. It's not a matter of if, but when. Especially given the strong possibility of more and more so-called "home grown" terrorists. American citizens who decide they agree with the fundamentalist Islamic terrorists. We should all be alert and report any suspicious behavior to the proper authorities.
I can't allow these concerns to cause me live in fear. It just makes me more vigilant in watching for anything suspicious.

Because Israel has a lot more muslims living in it for one thing. Many their believe Israel is not jewish land and thats why they are there.
Many muslims here came here for freedom and work. The US wasn't their land so they didn't come for that reason. As a result many more extremists in Israel and not here.
Some have tried sneaking in since before 9/11 but the gov't has amazingly stopped it all since 9/11.

Well I suppose it is possible but if you look at the history of Israel and of the countries around it you will see that the international relations are much more unfriendly. I mean it's not like all of a sudden suicide bombers are going to start coming out of Canada. The greatest threat are homegrown terrorist cells, but those are rare and don't usually get that far thanks to the excellence of our security.
