Traveling the world, I've seen a lot of pretty strange stuff. But I still think the supernatural is a crock, and one of the biggest scams ever foisted on mankind.
I think it was Arthur C. Clarke who said, to paraphrase: any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

What you find depends mostly on what you look for...
It is not at all a "new social wave"... interest and popularity comes and goes, like the tide, but it's not at all new. This most recent resurgence started in the 1990s, before that it was the 1960s, and before that the 1920s... With each turn there are new books, new societies...
If you are wanting to shoot lightning & fireballs out of your hands, draw down the demons of hell, or cast "magic missile" or somesuch, you are hosed. It is worrisome that you say "from movies to books" ...it seems you are looking for something you are not going to find. I really don't think that you have the patience or strength of will to achieve anything. You say you have "dabbled a bit" but what did you do? draw circles and chant some gibberish you didn't know what it meant? The big, scaly demon didn't come crawling out of your bedroom floor to devour the bullies at your school... sorry for the disappointment.
If summoning is your thing, you're not going to like the answer. It takes a lot of hard work and discipline. And above all else, you have to be CAREFUL, thoughtful, and patient. Oh yeah, and commitment... everything has a price. You can't even just sell your soul for a quick fix, like in the movies. Maybe souls just aren't worth as much as they used to be...
The best thing for you, I think... would be just to say YES! It's a pack of lies. There is nothing to it, any of it; all nonsense. Find more realistic ways of solving your problems.

Yes. How could I not believe in magic, there are plenty of people that practice witchcraft. That would be like disbelieving dirt even though it obviously exists. I don't believe in demons or angels. I've seen ghosts and I've captured an EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) so I believe in ghosts. Not sure about Voodoo, but the author Zora Neal Hurston's life went straight to the gutter after having a Voodoo curse placed on her in Haiti, you can take that however you wish. Satanism has nothing to do with worshiping satan, Satanists are more like atheists that place themselves first over everything else.

Speaking as a witch, Magic works in the long term with no whiz bang special effects. I have been practicing magic for a long time, and it’s very hard to effectively control. E.g. I knew someone who did magic to loose weight, and a month later found a giant cist in her leg, which they had to operate on and removed. She lost weight and the spell worked, but not in the way she intended! Ever spell I've ever done has worked. I've done 2 spells to help people come off drugs, and in both cases they fell pregnant within a month, which gave them the reason to clean up their acts! I did magic for some stuff I wanted, which resulted in my husband making poor financial decisions to give me what I wanted, leaving us in debt!
Magic always has side effects, like drugs. It should not be prescribed by an amateur. The more experience I have of Magic the less I want to use it. However it’s nice to know how to curse someone even if you never use it.
Magic also does not work in a vacuum. If you do magic for a grate job, but never bother to apply for any, it’s not going to work!
And you have to do magic for the right thing. If you’re in debt and always doing magic for more money, chances are you'll just find ways to get more money through debt. The magic you should do in that situation is grounding magic to make you more practical about finance.
Many people use magic without realising it. My dad was surprised when he wanted me to change shift, and got quite emotional and het up about it. Then that day, out of the blue, my Manager asked me to change shift to the one my Dad preferred. He thought I'd done the magic, but I explained his grate emotion he felt created his own magic.
The short answer is Magic exists for sure, I use it, and I've seen others use it, but it’s not spectacular, can be dangerous, should generally be avoided unless in grate need, and its very everyday.

I used to volunteer in a hospital. Miracles happen all of the time, but the stories are mostly anecdotal, so if you're not there to witness them, and kind of hard "prove" if you hang around hospitals enough you'll see plenty of weird stuff especially if you have access to the nonpublic regions. Good luck in your search. I offer no specific prove here because the journey is half the fun. Good luck.

yes I have, but not knowing what it was I can't really label it as voodoo, satanism, etc.....the best I can figure it was some kind of entity and I know for a fact I saw it cause I didn't say nothing about it and then someone else saw it and described it exactly the same

My grandmothers ghost appeared to me at the moment of her death
A ghost dog floated up from the yard, and we discovered that years ago someone buried a dog there (we dug it up)
A window broke inwards onto two of my children, glass was all around them in a perfect circle, and neither one had a scratch
I healed my sons back, and anothers finger that was cut to the bone
None of this is "NEW" stuff, Jesus was able to do miracles (what we today would call magic) and he told us we could do it too.
