Your car runs out of gas - that's a problem. Your electric car runs out of battery power - simply park and have lunch and let the sun partially recharge the batteries, then you're on your way. Once your home or work or a store, either plug it in to an outlet or hook it up to a solar collecter car port for a faster re-charge. How many of you would buy an electric car with solar cells? I wonder what the current technology efficiency level is for recharging a small 2 seat compact anyway? I think it's time - who wants to go into business with me?

Good plan... they are working on the "solar car" but the cells are not yet efficient enough. Think about it... if they were we'd have solar houses first given the vast amount of roof space we have and the amount of time our roofs spend in the sun. The main issue with the solar car is the size and weight of the batteries... they are too heavy and too large. Ditto on the cells.

Give it 10 more years.

It could work, but you'd need a car with enough surface area for the technology right now. Wait till solar cells are more efficient- I'll join you in business!
