In theory its a beautiful idea, but we don't live in a perfect world. Coming out of the closet for some actors could damage their career by decreasing their popularity. As much as we hate to admit this, high profile actors are a often a commodity, and popularity defines their paycheck. Keep in mind that their paycheck also effects their agents, who have a vested interest in earning as much money as possible. The decision to come out may not lie solely in the hands of the actor.

I think that it is a very personal decision. Since actors are such role models (at least most of the time) it could be very helpful to those that look up to them. I think everyone should be proud of who they are regardless of their sexual orientation.

To each his own...the world needs role models besides when it boils down to it.....everyone's the same; just different.
And about Sir Ian....at least he asked them to come out of the closet...instead of outing them!
