In 1975 the scientists were screaming "GLOBAL COOLING OH NO!!!" and they went as far as suggesting to cover the polar ice caps with black soot to keep the world warmer. (See Newsweek article, April 28, 1975).

The recorded history of climate doesn't go back too far, and what do you think the accuracy of those instruments was? Could they even measure a tenth of a degree? Now we can record temperatures to a better precision.

Is the climate getting warmer? Yes, it is. Are WE causing it? There is no conclusive evidence to say so. That is not to say we shouldn't do more to protect the environment.

It is ignorant to assume that ecosystems and climate have been constant the last hundreds of years. If there is one thing that is constant, it is change. When we try to influence the natural processes of the earth, we come up short ALL THE TIME.

Some scientists have predicted another cycle of cooling beginning in 2012. I predict the following: we will greatly reduce greenhouse gases, do all we can to stop global warming, and then in about 25 years, the globe will begin cooling again, and then scientists will say it was because of all the drastic measures we took, and that we're doomed to another ice age.

Global warming is real and IS happening right now. The hype is way over blown. The globe warms and cools in a natural cycle. It has done this since forming 4 billion years ago. I know you have read about or heard that the Earth has had several ice ages. The ice ages are cooling periods and inbetween are warming periods.
There is a fact that has been left out of the discussion. The Earth is going through a pole shift right now. A pole shift is when the magmentic poles swap polarities. During a pole shift the rays from the sun hit the Earth with more intencity because the magnetoshere is weaker. This makes the Earth absorb more heat.
It is false bravado to believe that we pitiful humans can stop, slow, or reverse a natural cycle of the Earth. It seems even our best scientists can have brain farts. Everything I have posted here is simple high shcool science. You would think our scientists and goverment leaders would have a better understanding of high school science but it seems they don't.

Global Warming is as real as Global Cooling, both are facts of reality that depend on many factors. The cycle of sun spots has shown a direct relation to our ave. temp., something they have yet to do with mans activities.
Today we have evidence of glaciers melting back, and this troubles the mystic left and their handlers. In the 60's there was evidence of these same glaciers advancing, as I learned in school from our socialist professors. Both cases the forms of collectivists are pointing at mans actions as the cause, and their gang can solve this problem if they could gain wider controls! Where were these idiots when the last ice age melted, was that because of to much dinosaur 'exaust'?
If one wanted a quick way to sort fact from fiction on any question like this, look to see who supports the idea. It's a safe bet that if the Democrats and so called enviromentalist groups claim it is true, chances are good it is based on junk science and emotionalism rather than facts of reality.
As to GW being a threat, so far if it ever became one, the only valid question would be if better airconditioners could be made!
Thank you, Jim B

There is no global warming. How can car emmissions cause
melting around the ice fields? There are no cars there. Even
if there was, no human has been able to do one thing about
the weather, nor will they (cut back as they may). It could easily
change to global cooling in the future, so quit worrying over
something you can't change. Let AlGore do all the worrying.

Global warming is real. The causes are unknown and in fact may just be a natural cycle. The earth has gone through many eras of cooler weather (1300's) and warming ( from 25,000BC to current).
The resulting threat is real.
There are econmic danagers and agricultural danagers, both of which could lead to political unrest.

Someone mentioned putting an ice cube in a cup and as the ice cube melts the cup doesn't overflow. One of the problems with global warming, as i understand it, is that the icebergs that are melting are on land, not already in the ocean. Instead of putting an ice cube in a cup of water and watching it melt, put an ice cube into an already full cup.

I think we are past the point of discussing whether global warming is real or not, it is an established fact.

All of the experts agree that Global Warming exist. What they don't agree on is what is causing it. So yes it is real.

Evidently there are many people who think it's a fake, and possibly even more who don't want to believe it's real. However, the scientists of the world are offering their studies up to everyone's scrutiny, and are begging and pleading for people to pay attention, so I tend to think they are genuinely alarmed.
