Just as women are saddled with the stereotype that they should all look like Barbie Dolls, men have been stereotyped as Super Heroes, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, stop locomotives with a single hand, and be faster than a speeding bullet.
Our stereotype of the gender roles make women the weaker sex and men the stronger. When a man buys into that, any homosexual thought makes him feel weak. And that scares him. The guy who is able to shrug off homosexuality and say, hey that's just not for me, does fine. But the man who is worried that if he lets the walls down he might just go there, becomes defensive, worried that he'll end up being Lois Lane rather than Clark Kent.
Guys, there's nothing wrong with being Jimmy Olson.

Guys -- usually -- are afraid that gay guys will somehow find them attractive and hit on them just because they are gay. That is absurd, considering most of those same men aren't even been hit on by girls to say the least. Sometimes the male ego is laughable.

It scares most men and they are afraid they might actually be homosexual when they experience ordinary feelings of affection for other men.It has been instilled in them so firmly that it is "wrong" to love another man, whereas women are perfectly fine with loving another woman without being a lesbian. A woman can say she loves her girlfriend, for a man it be a no-no to say he loves his best friend. The fact that they don't mind girls kissing can, I think, be attributed to the porn industry.

It's called fear. I figured it out. I think its because they are scared the guy might rape/sexually assault them. Think about it. I have a really good guy friend who isn't homophobic but has problems with gay men, he's fine with gay women though. I think it's fear more than anything else.

heterosexual is only being attracted to the opposite sex
two girls kissing are two members of the opposite sex, so a guy likes that. its does not mean hi is homosexual at all.
plus, gay guys are creepy and big pu$$ies

I believe We are so stereotyped to be a set standard--macho, football/bikini loving men...we dress like clones to those we admire--REAL MEN--we use "straight" acting males as our rolemodels..and obviously our fathers were straight...as much as we knew. ( everyone has a secret) Then when someone comes along that breaks those boundaries that we are "brainwashed" to believe by narrowminded parents/friends.....It sets a fear of paranoia in men...making them feel threatened somehow...In his mind, they would think "he" was if "he" even liked you. But deep down..i don't believe they actually feel that way....it's the FEAR of having others think they're perfect masculine wall is broken down..therefore not being accepted by their own kind they march so well to.

These are the same oblivious men who think they are God's gift to all women and think that every guy must want them also.

Most people ( male and female ) are homophobic because they are scared of what they don't understand. also, sometimes people act homophobic because they are hiding deep feelings that they are gay.

its a masculin thing . they believe they will be looked at as less of a man . i think you have to be more manly to be gay. to be turned on by his body, rough and muscular. where as women are so soft and sweet smelling.
