When they compare the movies against each other they adjust the amount to reflect this. That's how star wars, ET and those guys are still up there.

That accounts for differences over time (e.g. comparing Pirates vs. a movie from 10 yrs ago), but top grossing is a good way to compare movies that similar in time (e.g. the last 3 yrs or so).

Only in relation to older movies. It kicked the crap out of all the latest Star Wars and Harry Potter movies. That had nothing to do with ticket price increases.

yep. or else gone with the wind would be wayyyy up there. its the highest making movie in history. But since movies were only 50 cents back then its not on the top. They should do that though. Or make movies back to 50 cents! good for us bad for them. i go with the good for us!

not necessarily. I believe it has to do with repeat business. People going back to see the movie 2 or 3 times. Younger audiences, especially love to do this.
