Ill agree that Liriano was absolutely deserving to be in the game but that doesnt mean that AJ wasnt. Aj is just as, if not more IMPORTANT, to his team. They play different positions so its hard to compare them. The vote was decided by the fans though, so the Liriano snub could have been prevented if as many fans thought he was more deserving then AJ

The man is 10-1 with an ERA under 2.00, and about 80 more K's than BB's. Yeah, he got snubbed big time. But as an NL fan, I'd much rather see AJ in the game over Liriano, I'm afraid he would mow down NL batters. I'm not saying that Pierzynski deserves it, I'm saying that it's good for the NL team that Liriano didn't get in - it gives them a better chance of losing by less than three runs. I'm so optimistic about Tuesday night.....

Pierzynski was VOTED by the FANS not CHOSEN for the all-star game. The game's just a popularity contest anyways and the concept of every team having a representative there is crap. Personally I'm more outraged that Barry Zito and Mark Redman are there over Liriano and another deserving pitcher (maybe Schilling/Beckett???)
EDIT: BTW - Danny Darwin for Jeff Bagwell is the worst trade in Baseball History.

Yes! Like we need any more White Sox on the team. Guillen, like many managers before him (Torre), abused his power in filling out the roster with players from their team. AJ was NOT one of the players selected by Guillen, but the Sox created an ad campaign to garner him votes. However, if Guillen had done his job right in the first place Liriano would have been chosen before going to the final vote!
Liriano went out again last night and showed how wrong everyone (in Chicago) was in not making him an All-Star!

Liriano doesn't deserve it yet. Anyone complaining about the kid from Detroit who is not going Verlander? Nope...
Is Liranio a good pitcher. Yes. But, he hasn't been a starter the whole season and the AL is loaded with pitching right now.
AJ deserved to go because the AL needed another catcher. If Pudge gets pulled and Mauer goes in and gets hurt what do they do?
I have no problem witht he decision.

You think that is insane, the S.F. Giants had and traded Francisco Liriano and Joe Nathan for A.J. Pierzynski. That is insane, the worst trade in baseball history!

A.J. is a solid journey men catcher and yes it does help that his manager is the coach of this year American League team. Lariano is hot as can be right now and pitched 7 innings of scoreless ball last night against the Texas Rangers. I'm sure he would much rather be playing in October then sitting in Pittsburgh next Tuesday. If he can stay healthy he should be fun to watch the rest of this season and in the future. Sorry, don't think its insane, its just the way things are done in Major league baseball today.

because very like Pierzynski, catchers are not large runners and they remember on the bats behind them to force them in... outside of that, the easy incontrovertible truth that they are 6 RBI aside, yet 80 factors aside in BA tells you Pierzynski receives multiple "empty" hits. basebally is more suitable than offensive numbers, look at HoF'er Ozzie Smith's career hitting stats and attempt to justify him no longer BEING IN THERE. Tek is an mind-blowing catcher, handles his pitchers properly and is a consummate crew guy. purely yet another celebration of ways the DH is ruining baseball.

Well liriano may be great, but he's a minnesota twin. So that greatness is all an illusion. He sucks just like the twins.

absolutely, many out there think that they are informed well when it comes to baseball but most can't see past the end of their nose, liriano is a player of the future, beleive me, yankee and sox fans( you know, only you count) that soon georgie boy will be licking his chops to get him but for now, just keep voting with name recognition and tell yourself just how smart you are...
in addition do you same people who voted wrong once again ever hear of a player named joe mauer? i doubt it, keep voting only for the large market teams, if you are into sports and not into playing the odds, gee, now i just wonder who wears the black hats and who wears the white hats?
