I use Glucosamine and Chondroitin with MSM that I buy at Wal-Mart. I don't know about rebuilding cartilage, but if I don't take it for a couple of weeks I am almost unable to walk without a cane and when I'm taking it I go out for walks in the evening... it changed my life.

I have been taking glucosamine chondroitin for a few years now, and they work wonderfully. They are not very expensive, and you can buy them almost anywhere that sells vitamins.
Once you start taking them, give them a week or two to work. If you don't see improvement, you can up the dosage (You can't OD on them very easily- maybe if you took half the bottle!!) and try that for a few weeks. I started with two pills, 400mg/500mg each a day, and I am now down to one a day.

Was told by my doctor that since cartilage has no blood supply, it cannot regrow. This is why there are so many knee surgeries to removed pieces of torn knee cartilage.

Go to your local store , look in the vitamin isle for a box with a blinking light on it. It works well for my mother.

Confirm with your doctor first.
But, I was recommended by mine to take along with what I already take, vitamin e gel caps and vitamin c supplement together with a calcium drink. My knees are better so it worked for me.
