these are amazing moths. I videoed one on my phone on friday. Lil buga would not stay still. I thought they only appeared down south. I live in NE

Dont think they are endangered but they are not often spotted.

Have seen several in our garden - but we live on the Costa Blanca. Are they an endangered species?

The Yanks are at it again. The Hummingbird Hawk Moth is NOT a hummingbird. It is actually a butterfly found in mediterranean countries but migrates towards GB june to September most years since global warming took over.

I really think questioners on YAHOO should realise they are dealing across continents when they respond on YAHOO answers and they should give some kind of idea what part of the world they are in.

But to answer your question! I have not seen one [so far] this year but will be delighted to get results from other Brits as to their 2006 experiences of this rather wonderful insect

I live in IA - we have them around our pond and in the garden in the evening. They're really cool little critters, especially up close - they look like something from a Godzilla movie!

Not in my garden.
But I have seen both hummingbirds & hummingbird moths in the local botanic garden.
They are both wonderful creatures!
