Are you kidding? Farts distract kids in school. Our local high school doesn't allow you to have your cell phones outside of your pocket or locker unless it's break or lunch time.

I believe they do distract kids! it also is a temptation for kids to cheat. the schools should have a policy that any cell phone seen between the start of school and the end of school should be confiscated and not given back that way students would think "is it worth it to text a few times and risking not seeing my phone again or I can just wait till school is over b/c the message ain't going anywhere" so cell phones and text messaging are really distracting to students

Think about it this way: If the teacher was text messaging, would it distract that teacher from teaching? Yes. So if the students are doing it, then they'd be distracted too.
Cell phones shouldn't be allowed to be ON in schools. There's no reason for you to have to have it on in class. When I went to school we weren't allowed to have them period. In fact we couldn't have pagers or anything. If we needed to call someone there were payphones avaliable in the lobby. If someone needed to call us: They did it after school!!!!!!!!

When I was in high school in the mid 60's, my parents gave me the choice-cell phone or text message-I couldn't have both.

yes, cell phones and the ability to text message distract kids in school.Kids like to behave like elders but they must oncentrate in their studies first .So, cell phones must be restricted for the students in schools.

Absolutely! If students have a real need to contact someone during school hours, they can go to the office. Otherwise, the temptation is too strong to call or text their friends during times when it would be better for them to study (and imprv thr grammr).
