Jefferson screams to the idealist in all of us but Hamiltonian doctrine has made this country what it is today..............good and bad.

I cannot agree with a federalist. No big governments. James Madison was a much smarter and better leader odd though that he never forgave Andrew Jackson for being friends with Burr. I realize you never mentioned Madison in your question but Jefferson never really debated Hamilton.

I tend to agree more with Jefferson because I find the notion of a republic and a large central government to be both revolting and resoundingly hypocritical, as well as a danger to liberty. There is no greater threat to liberty on this planet than large governments, including the American government.

I find a much stronger affinity for Jefferson than Hamilton, though I really admire how Hamilton brought himself up from nothing.
