For those that think it happens only in the cartoons, here in Portland, one commuter train hit a guy on the tracks. The train, traveling nearly 60 mph, knocked the guy over 100 feet from the point of impact; and yes, it did knock him out of his shoes.

First of all, it happens for real and for a reason: Your shoes and you are different objects united only by your shoelaces. When a car hits you, the force of impact on your body is stronger than the force of your shoelaces keeping your shoes on place, and that's why it happens. I hope you never have to see it on real life.

Hope it helps.

An object in motion tends to stay in motion. An object at rest tends to stay at rest. The body is suddenly accelerated from 0 to 50 mph and the shoes remain at rest.

This happens in the cartoons, not it real life.
It's to show that they've been so hard that it will knock their shoes off - something that would not normally happen.

it's called "enertia" you hit something moving with something that isn't whatever is held by gravity(shoes) stay where they are and the rest of you goes with the forward thrust of the moving object.
