Amen. I couldn't agree more. I used to think deeply about this, until the answer it me. In three words, I found my answers. People are stupid. That explains everything and more.

You're question made me think back to the love and compassion everyone felt post 9-11. We were on the right path then, and we didn't let the little things bug us, we saw the brotherhood that we all shared and had a common unity. Its curious that many of the successful hollywood movies in the last decade have been apocolyptic end of the world type blockbusters. We all want to feel connected, but in the last five years, we've lost that. I just hope it doesn't take another tragedy to bring us together.
Let's be nice to eachother...maybe that's a start.
:)

I believe it is a matter of focus. What are we focussed on? We have spent trillions (that is a million millions) of dollars on weapons. When all you have is a hammer and people expert in hammering, everything starts to look like a nail.
If the US had spent 400 billion over the last 10 years helping the disadvantaged people of the middle east, instead of blowing the crap out of Iraq, do you think we would be hated so much?
The focus of people in the US is getting stuff. Simplicity of life and compassion for everyone inside and outside this country will eventually get things to UNSUCK. To this end, stop watching commercial television, and be critical of everything you hear about our need for more weapons.

Things don't suck more now, it is just harder to avoid having all the bad news shoved down your throat 24 - 7 by the media.
Try to avoid overdosing on things you can do nothing about, it makes you feel miserable and helpless. Life does go on, whether you know all about it or not. I'm not saying bury your head in the sand, just have mercy on yourself!
People pretend everything is fine to try and keep from going postal in this crazy world.

America is going downhill, because we have become desensitized to everyday horror. Thank the media for this. Watch the world news, and see how much death and destruction you see. Now compare it to your local news. It is so easy for us as a society to blame everything that happens on something else. No one takes responsibility for their actions.

This is asked by someone who goes by the name sl*tface? Are you kidding me? Abortion on demand, internet p*rn*, excessive alcohol and drug abuse, homosexuality, and yet these are all not the bottom line. Those who reject an eternal moral order established by God Himself simply choose to go their own way, this is the result. These things, (except for the obvious) have existed since the fall of man, man left to his own vices have shown how ugly sin can be.

Because of our backwards political representation. If we continue moving in this overly religous fanatical movement we are surely to continue loosing more of our rights. Come on people, our country was founded by those who fled religious persecution and I find it ironic that we are moving in a conservative Christian path.

nobody takes responsibility for their actions. it's always "someone else's fault"....that's why you've seen an unprecedented amount of lawsuits in this country. that mentallity just feeds a wo is me attitude and contributes to the general malaise.
