Hi,
I am equadorian and live in Equador.
I do not have the necessity to immigrate to America to live
because I have everything I need in my country.
Nevertheless, when I have traveled legally to American I
have seen why poor people from Latin American countries
immigrate to USA. The answer is THE MONEY!!
Waitresses, carpenters, wall painters, trash collectors,
maids, etc, etc make good money in America….sometimes
they are paid per hour. In poor countries this is impossible…
so many people give up everything to have that dream ….
“MONEY.”
America wins a lot with this too….they have very hard workers
for cheap!!!!
I dream about the day where people do not have to risk their
lives because they are not allowed to dream in their own countries…and have to look for their dreams outside…standing insults, discriminations, bad treatment, etc, etc.

Because we are the land of the free!! Well that is what people believe. We as Americans have so many opportunities that other countries don't. We have freedoms that we are born with.
We don't appreciate those freedoms because we readily have them, but people from other countries see this broad-casted on T.V, they read books etc... and they want it.
Immigrants in America get cut breaks if they work. They get paid tax-free money and can reap government benefits while here. Women are free to get as many rights as men.
That's why people are risking their lives: For the pursuit of freedom.

Some people risk their lives far more staying where they are than coming to America. And others are so unhappy, they want to get away, and perhaps they think the risks won't apply to them, or that they've planned carefully enough.
If you're thinking of the Cuban woman who died recently, that was sad. However, she was the only person who could have *knowledgeably* answered your question, if that is what you have in mind.

Perhaps you do not appreciate the liberties that you have. Your Spanish is good enough, take a trip and see for yourself.
Many of the people risking their lives to come to the good ole U.S.A. are from "America". Some are even from North America.

Depends on what circumstances you live in currently. I wouldn't risk my life to come from Greenland to the US, but I might if I lived in Sudan.
