Yes, if you really want to be fulfilled as a human being.

We're all mortal. If we simply think about ourselves, and immediate gratification, then we live and die like the animals.

But, if we do something with our lives that is of lasting value -- to make a great discovery, or to develop one's talents, or to educate a child, things like that, then we not only do something for future generations, but we can add meaning to those who have gone before us. Think of the great minds of the past -- Plato, Raphael, Beethoven (to name only a few) -- their work is eternal. We can partake of the Infinite, when we are mindful of what past generations have done for us, that we might live meaningful lives.

Think a moment of all those who are suffering now, throughout the world, who have no fresh water, electricity, and other necessities. (let alone being on the Internet). Think of what you might do with your life, that others will look back and say, 'I'm thankful for what that person did for me'.

kinda sorta. if u respect what they did then yeah. if not then no it would be a waste of ur time. the only reason people honor some people is because they are told to, they usually dont even know what they are honoring.
