I do alot of wallpapering, The way I take off the old is to score big X's in the paper, and then soak with HOT soapy water. Let it sit for about five to ten minutes and then use a paint scraper to scrape off. Repeat (make sure to use HOT Soapy water) as much as neccessary until walls are free of both the backing and the glue. This will be pretty easy going as long as sizing was used before the paper went up. Otherwise it will be slower going. Good luck.
